You don’t need to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to own a massage chair. The “BestMassage” brand of massage chairs is testament to that! Who are these guys anyways?
I’m all in for products that are economical and cost-effective, but boy oh boy not knowing anything about the manufacturer is very worrisome and immediately raises red flags for me! In any case, since the intent of this post is to complete an unbiased review of the chair, let’s discuss this some more in the cons section.
A few things, but the 2 most important ones (in my opinion) are:
Now let’s specifically look at the EC 06C in more detail. Let’s talk about key features!
Heat therapy is absolutely necessary if you’re looking to have an effective massage. Why is heat application so important? First and foremost, heat loosens up all of those stiff, rigid muscles, so the end product are muscles and tissue that are more pliable and easier to massage.
It’s one of the reasons most massage therapists apply oil to the body. Not only does it help reduce friction, it also helps warm up the muscles which becomes especially important when performing deep, intensive strokes.
Alright enough ranting about heat application and why it’s important; I’m sure you get the point! Getting back to the topic at hand, the EC 06C comes equipped with dual heating elements on both the waist and feet area.
Like most chairs, the heat therapy can be toggled on/off on the EC 06C massage chair.
What are airbags and why are they important?
Empty pouches that inflate/deflate with compressed air. As they inflate, they provide a “squishy” compression style massage to nearby muscle and tissue. Compression massage is important because because it helps relieve pain and improve circulation on the surface level.
Oh and I almost forgot, it feels awesome! But it can also feel horrendous if the intensity is not right. My advice for beginner massagers: start off with a low intensity setting and then work your way up!
Speaking about airbag coverage on the EC 06C, it’s got airbags to massage the arms, waist, buttocks, legs, and feet. Below is an image showing approximate airbag locations.
There’s definitely something wrong with it, are you able to see what’s wrong? There are no airbags in the upper region of the chair! That is there are no shoulder, neck, or head airbags. This for me is a massive shortcoming, and I’ll explain why.
See it’s not so much about needing air massage in the shoulder, neck areas. The primary reason you’d want to have airbags there is to be able to pin the body down in place so the rollers are able to effectively traverse down along the spine. In other words, airbags are essential to hold the body firmly in place.
One of the standout features of this chair is its SL-Track.
Confused yet? Think of it this way: SL-Tracks are super long, that’s why we say they’re an extended track. SL-Tracks form an “S” shape for the first bit when they traverse from neck to lower back, and an overall “L” shape when you look at the neck to glutes tracking.
The image below shows what this might look like. Keep in mind, when we say “S” and “L” shapes, we’re trying to characterise something. In reality, it’s a huge exaggeration. Hope this is clear.
2D rollers are fairly simple to understand. They’re called 2D because they can move in 2 dimensions: up to down and vice versa, and side to side and vice versa. Below image depicts movement of a typical 2D roller system!
Most people often disregard the number of auto modes a massage chair has, and then live to regret it! Let me ask you this: what makes you so interested to invest in a massage chair? If you’re like most people, your motive is the following:
Do you realize that having only a handful of auto modes takes away from this? Yes you can always adjust manual settings, but doing this takes away from the convenience factor. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, auto modes are huge and everyone should consider them before buying!
All that being said, the EC 06C comes with a total of 9 auto massage modes, which is actually pretty cool. In terms of techniques, this chair can perform shiatsu, tapping, kneading, rubbing, pressing, and a kneading and tapping combo.
It’s very rare you’ll find a massage chair that has 9 auto modes, an SL-Track, and dual heat therapy while only retailing for a fraction of what other similar massage chairs cost.
As one would expect there are caveats. Let’s look at them in more detail!
I recommend against it for all of the reasons above. If I were in your shoes (and I was a few years ago!) looking for a massage chair, this is not an option I would’ve short listed. Although it’s price may seem highly attractive, it’s not worth taking the risk purchasing a unit which could crap out in 6 months with little to no customer service!
Assuming you’re in the market for a 2D SL-Track massage chair, look no further than the Osaki OS Pro Maxim! Yes it might been much more expensive than the EC 06C, but you know you’re getting a solid unit that’s proven the test of time over the years.
Why? Because you will gain a better appreciation of what all is out there and how it stacks against the competition. Bloggers in general will always be biased one way or another. Apologies for the digression!
The Pro Maxim in my opinion is a phenomenal SL-Track chair that has tons of awesome features (including 12 auto modes, dual foot rollers, and space saving technology).
