What Is The Osaki OS 4000T?

The Osaki OS 4000T is an entry level electric massage chair. It’s a chair that’s most popular with anyone on a tight budget, but even though it’s relatively cheap, it boasts a plethora of awesome features (more on this later!).

Interesting fact: Osaki OS 4000 was the original model that helped launch and propel the Osaki brand to what it is today!

The OS 4000T is simply an update/upgrade to the original.

Osaki are known to have a very high reputation in the massage industry. That being said, when you buy an Osaki, you can rest assured knowing you’re buying one of the very best! Let’s look at some key features of the Osaki OS 4000T.

7 Cool Features Of The Osaki OS 4000T!

In my opinion, the Osaki OS 4000T is one of the few chairs out there where you actually get more than what you paid for, and here’s 7 reasons why.

#1 Intelligent S-Track Rolling!

The OS 4000T features an S-Track roller. What is “S-Track rolling” you ask? Every massage chair comes fitted with a back roller. The problem with most rollers is that they’re straight. They’re not contoured to match the shape and curvature of a human spine. This can be problematic for a number of reasons:

    • You’re not able to target all areas of the back equally and effectively.
    • The overall experience is uncomfortable.

S-Track rollers eliminate both of these issues, and that’s because the rollers move in a way that closely mimics the spine’s shape i.e. in a natural “S” shape.

Your Spine Is Not Straight!

#2 Computerized Body Scanning

This is not a typo, the Osaki OS 4000T massage chair will actually perform a full body scan! As a result:

    • The rollers trace your back’s curvature, so overall massage is not only effective, but also customized in a sense.
    • The chair will micro adjust as required (based on weight and height).

The purpose of both S-Track rollers and the computerized scan is to analyze and find the most effective massage solution for each individual. Combine both of these features and you have one awesome back massage!

A Personalized Massage Solution!

#3 Kneading Foot Rollers!

If you don’t already own a massage chair, you’ll probably take this for granted. I own one, so I know exactly how important it is to have a proper foot massaging system. The chair I own only does air compression on the feet.

The Osaki OS 4000T on the other hand features both air bags for compression and foot rollers for a kneading massage; a definite advantage as far as I’m concerned!

Air Compression Is Not Enough. Kneading Foot Rollers Make A Big Difference!

#4 Ability To Massage In Zero Gravity Position

What is zero gravity?

Simply said, zero gravity is an ideal position in which our bodies tend to perform best.

As far as massage is concerned, there are several benefits to sitting in a zero gravity position:

    • Improved Circulation—Blood flows smoother and quicker.
    • Reduced Muscle Tension—Muscles are less tense because of even weight distribution in a zero gravity position.
    • Less Pressure On The Spine—And as a result massage is much more comfortable.

The inception of zero gravity came from NASA. If you’re interested in reading more about zero gravity, check out this article titled “Benefits Of The Zero Gravity Position” by Perfect Sleep Chair.

The Osaki OS 4000T massage chair has 2 zero gravity positions: one is the normal mode, and the other is more reclined.

This Is What Zero Gravity Looks Like

#5 6 Different Massage Types

The most effective massages are those that are done with different techniques and strokes. This holds true for the trained therapist, just as it does for an automated massager. That being said, the Osaki OS 4000T can do 6 different techniques: Shiatsu, Swedish, Kneading, Clapping, Rolling, & Combo (basically a combination).

In addition to the 6 massage types, the OS 4000T also features air compression and vibration massage.

#6 Heat Therapy

Heat therapy is an absolute must as far as I’m concerned, and based on my research it’s pretty common to see most massage chairs come stock with built in heating pads.

This particular model has 2 heating pads; one on the right side of the lower back, and one on the left side.

Dual Lower Back Heating Pads

I usually always leave the heat setting on when I use my chair; I guess I like the feeling. However, not everyone does. Some find the heat overbearing and uncomfortable. You can decide for yourself!

#7 Automatic Leg Scan

We spoke about the computerized full body scan previously, but the OS 4000T also has a dedicated automatic leg scan.

How does this work? The built in calf and foot massager will extend and retract until it finds the “sweet” spot. This is where the air bags and foot rollers will be most effective.

Auto Leg Scan To Find Your “Sweet” Spot!

Since we all have different leg lengths, your “sweet” spot may not be the same as someone else’s.

Let’s Talk Specs For A Second!

If you’ve made it this far, you’ll know by now just how capable this device is. By the way, it doesn’t stop with the 7 features I listed above. There are many more features I didn’t talk about because I wanted to keep things short.

But what about specs? Let’s geek out for a minute, shall we!?

My Take On The OS 4000T (Pros & Cons)

What I Like About It (AKA Pros)

It's A Bargain For All It Can Do

Jam packed with features such as full body scans, zero gravity reclining, and s-track rolling, I think the OS 4000T is a steal for how little it costs. These are all features you’d expect to find in a higher end $4000+ model, not something that retails for about $2500. Not to mention when you buy an Osaki, you know you’re buying quality!

Personalized Back Massages!

A key component of massage chairs is the back roller. My chair which isn’t an OS 4000T, doesn’t have the best back roller. Instead of massaging, it only “tickles” the lower back, and that’s because it’s unable to track the curvature of my spine. Osaki’s “S-Track” on the other hand eliminates this problem altogether. Coverage is uniform and massage is a lot more effective.

Wireless Remote Control
It’s the small details that make all the difference. For those of you who don’t own a massage chair, it’s a little hard to understand why a wireless remote can be so useful. I’ll tell you why: you’re in the middle of a 15 minute massage, and realize you’d like to extend the time to 30 minutes coz you don’t wanna stop. Instead of interrupting your massage, you simply push a few buttons on the remote and voila! See my point?
The Preset Auto Programs
There are a total of 6 auto programs to select from: Thai, stretching, anti-stress, demo, lumbar/back, and neck/shoulder. There are manual modes too, but I’m the type of guy who likes to keep things simple, which is why I love these auto modes so much. Pick one of the 6, and away you go.

What I Don’t Like About It (AKA Cons)

It's Designed To Fit A Smaller Body Type
This is probably the only drawback I can come up with, not that it would matter to me because I’m 5’5”. I guess being short does have its benefits! On a serious note, if you do have a larger than average frame, you may wish to consider something else. Suggested user height is 5’2” to 6’2”, but I’d draw the line at 6 feet. Anything more and I think you’re pushing it!

Here’s What It Looks Like In Action!

I forgot to mention earlier, but you do get a choice of 4 colors: black and beige, brown, charcoal, and cream. I always lean towards the darker shades simply because they “look/appear” less dirtier than a lighter color. That being said, I’d probably stay away from cream!

Using the Osaki OS 4000T massage chair is pretty simple. Below is a video that explains some of the features (all credit to Massage Chair Deals).

What did you think? Would you pick from one of the preset programs or would you set things manually?

Some people like the preset modes, others don’t. Which one are you?

Leave it in the comments!

3 Major Differences Between The OS 4000 & OS 4000T

A lot of people get confused when they see an Osaki OS 4000 and an OS 4000T.

Both are identical units with some key differences. In many ways, OS 4000T is an upgrade to its predecessor the OS 4000.

Let’s look at 3 major differences between both units.

#1 OS 4000T Is A Newer Unit
Yup, in fact the OS 4000T only came out a couple years ago. The original OS 4000 has been around for a little more. It’s a clever move from Osaki. They saw how well the 4000 was performing and decided to take something good and make it even better. That’s exactly what the 4000T is; an update to its older brother!
#2 The Addition Of Foot Rollers
This one’s massive. The OS 4000T boasts kneading foot rollers, something that was absent in its predecessor. How big of an update is this? For me it’s a game changer, and I speak from experience. My chair, just like the 4000, doesn’t come equipped with a foot roller. The only massage my feet receive are a squishy air compression, which can sometimes get quite uncomfortable!
#3 Synthetic Leather
As per discussions with Osaki, this isn’t really an upgrade per say. Yes it’s true that the 4000T and the 4000 both have slightly different upholstery, but that doesn’t make one better than the other. I’ve seen a couple blog posts that say the 4000T has “better” leather, and this isn’t accurate. The folks over at Osaki tell me that both chairs, irrespective of leather and upholstery used, should feel exactly the same.

“Should I Buy The OS 4000 Or OS 4000T?”

Because it’s older, most stores don’t carry the 4000 anymore. However, if you are able to find it online, you’ll probably find that it’s slightly cheaper than the 4000T.

Should you spend the extra $$$ and get the 4000T, or save some and go for the 4000? In my honest opinion, I suggest picking the 4000T. It’s a newer unit and trust me when I say the foot roller is well worth the extra bucks!

So Who Should Buy The Osaki OS 4000T?

The OS 4000T is an entry to mid level massage chair. Even though it may not be as advanced as other Osaki units such as the dreamer or OS-Maxim, it’s still a solid, capable unit that produces wonderful results.

That being said, its only drawback is that it’s built to fit a smaller frame. If you’re larger than 6 feet, I strongly suggest you consider something else. Don’t worry I’ll be posting tons of reviews in the coming weeks, so I got ya covered!

So who should buy the Osaki OS 4000T zero gravity massage chair?

    • Anyone who’s tired of spending $$$ on massages!
    • Anyone who doesn’t wanna spend more than $3000 on a massage chair!
    • And anyone who doesn’t have an excessively large frame (6 foot is the limit)

The positive reviews on massage chair deals are testament to how good this unit really is. You can read up on the reviews here!

And Where Should I Buy From?

First and foremost, make sure you’ve done your research. After all this is a large investment we’re talking about!

If you’ve decided on buying the Osaki OS 4000T massage chair, you have 2 choices:

Buy in store or buy online!

I prefer option 2. Not only is pricing more competitive online, but colors and units are more likely to be in stock. In most cases, there’s also no delivery fees when you buy online.

I recommend buying from the folks over at massagechairdeals, and not just because I get a commission should you choose to buy from my link!

I like to be 100% transparent with my readers, so yes I will get a commission should you choose to buy from massagechairdeals.

But here’s why I recommend buying from them specifically:

    • They have a 30 day return policy—This gives you some time to test out the unit to see if you like it. If not, return it back and get your refund. It’s as simple as that!
    • They offer 24/7 customer support—Which is fantastic because most other places don’t. It also helps that they’re awesome to deal with!
    • They offer free curbside delivery—Great because who wants to spend $$$ on delivery! They also offer “white glove delivery” where a professional comes in and does the entire assembly and install at a cost. If you don’t like to mess around, pick this option when you check out!
    • Lowest Price Guarantee—They guarantee the lowest price, but if you find lower, they will match and potentially beat!

All that being said, I definitely recommend you check them out! To do so, click the link below!

If you do decide to buy from massage chair deals, you can save an extra 5% by entering the code “MAM5” during checkout. If you’ve read this post and use the link below, you can enter this code and save an extra 5%. Think of it as my way of saying thank you for supporting my site!

But what if you live outside the US?

Unfortunately, massage chair deals only ships to the US. If you live outside the US, I suggest the following:

    • Costco (Try Out Your Local Costco)
    • Osaki’s official website (Click here to go there)
    • Buy from Amazon (Click here to check out pricing)

If you live outside the US, the above 3 are definitely good places to check out. However keep in mind, your overall costs will be slightly higher due to increased shipping and handling.

3 Assembly & Installation Tips!

Tip #1 Sometimes It’s Worth Paying $$$ For Assembly & Install!

Assembly and installation is not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s not my cup of tea, I can tell you that!

Especially when it has to do with something that weighs about 300 pounds!

Don’t Be This Guy, Pay Someone To Assemble & Install!

I would much rather pay someone to assemble, place and install everything for me. That way I don’t cause any damage to the unit itself, or even my house for that matter!

Tip #1 is to seriously consider paying someone to do the install for you, especially if you’re not confident or don’t have the tools required. Yes in the end it will cost you a little more, but you’re already spending an exorbitant amount to begin with. An extra $100 won’t change much! Better to be safe than sorry.

Tip #2 Pick An Unobstructed Place With Ample Space!

“Isn’t that common sense?” No not quite. Believe it or not, it’s actually hard to tell how much space is sufficient enough. One thing that always throws me off is the reclining factor.

A chair in a fully reclined position generally takes up more space than when it’s not reclined.

You have to somehow account for this as you decide on placement of the chair.

What’s the best way to do this? Pick a place in your house with lots of extra room. Don’t take this lightly! It’s best to get placement right the first time. The last thing you wanna be doing is switching spots because things are too tight!

Tip #3 Take Your Time & Follow Instructions!

Massage chair deals have put out an 8 minute video showing step by stpe how to assemble the Osaki OS 4000T zero gravity massage chair. You can find the video below for your convenience (all credit to Massage Chair Deals).

I know there are times when reading an instruction manual or watching a “how to” video really isn’t all that necessary.

This Isn’t One Of Those Times!

If you’re gonna be doing the assembly and install, you’ll wanna allocate some time into understanding how everything fits together. I’d strongly recommend watching the how to video above, and reading the instruction manual. The OS 4000T instruction manual can be found here.

If you do decide to buy from massage chair deals, you can expect to receive the following 2 boxes:

    • Box 1—Includes the remote, chair base, backrest, and foot ottoman.
    • Box 2—Includes smaller parts such as side panels.

Box 1 is the larger of the two boxes.

And With That You’re On Your Way!
