Welcome back to yet another post! Today’s gonna be a fun one because it’s very relatable to the current global situation. And what might that be you ask!? COVID-19 running rampant all over the world leading to second and third waves in several countries.
Whether it’s online classes, working remotely, dance, yoga, and tons of other stuff. They’ve all gone virtual. And…..believe it or not, but so to has massage!
Crazy or otherwise, virtual massage is a thing and it looks like it’s here to stay (at least until the pandemic still prevails). So what is this virtual massage, and does it even work? Is it worth looking into or should you consider other automated options such as handheld massagers or massage chairs? All this and more down below!
First things first, a virtual massage is not really a massage in the true sense. Well it is, but not the way you know it. Allow me to explain!
A virtual massage is actually a remote consultation with a trained massage therapist where he/she goes over various massage techniques with the patient, explaining and demonstrating to the patient how to administer these techniques upon themselves.
Well you might be thinking then….if I have to pay for a virtual consult why don’t I just YouTube “how to self massage” and call it a day? And that’s one heck of a point! However, there’s a few things to think about.
With a virtual consult, you get one on one attention based on your specific condition. This kinda of attention is not something you may be able to find from a YouTube video. You might find a video on YouTube that actually does work really well for you, or you may not.
If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll have seen several awesome videos/tutorials I’ve shared straight from YouTube! There’s some really great massage content on there, no question about this!
Which is why virtual massage sessions might be of interest to you.
Yes and no.
Yes, if you have specific conditions which requires a customized/specialized kind of approach. To be fair, most people will not be in this scenario. Most people will be someone who can simply YouTube search or Google search a few techniques and try them out.
Only if your condition is very unique and different would I recommend a virtual consult with your therapist, otherwise all of these things are available at no cost online. In that sense, it’s a no-brainer!
Since the start of the lock-downs in March 2020, folks have been staying indoors at home and massage has very much taken a back seat. Of course there’s no question we should all stay safe and practice social distancing, so no question about going to get an in-person massage with your favorite therapist.
I won’t go into the details too much in this post because I covered it in great length in a separate post which you can check out here.
Even with the restrictions, you can still maintain a massage routine, which in my opinion does a great deal to benefit not just the physical but also mental and emotional. And we all know the importance of keeping sane in these trying times!
Not much else to say about virtual massage. If you enjoyed reading this post, please be sure to share it on the social channels. Finally, leave your questions/comments down below!
Lastly, if you’ve had some experience with a virtual massage, drop a comment down below and tell us how it went.
