Ever since I was a kid, nasal polyps have been a part of my life. I first got diagnosed when I was about 9 or 10 years old, and since then I’ve tried just about anything and everything – laser surgery in the early 2000’s, steroid nasal sprays, steroid tablets, salt water rinses, and about a decade ago, surgery to extract the polyps.
I know there has to be a way to get rid of these things for good, and to be able to breathe free like every other normal person does. I’ll be honest – my situation isn’t as dire now as it was a few years ago, so in that sense I’m definitely grateful!
However, the flare ups are always a pain. It’s got me thinking…how can I get rid of this thing once and for all? I’ve lived with this for 2 decades now, and it’s about time to cut ties!
Which means that I’ll be updating it as I progress on this journey. There’s a few things I’m currently trying out which I’ll talk about in more detail below, but I wanted to mention that the purpose of this post is to share my journey, experiences, and hopefully something that finally works for me!
Alright, without further a do!
First things first, who in the world is Austin Goh? If you’d have asked me a week ago, I’d have shrugged my shoulders. Austin is a natural health consultant and YouTuber hailing from Malaysia.
There was one particular video which caught my attention. Check it out below!
It seems pretty simple to do twice a day, and doesn’t even take very long. I’ve been doing this technique for the last 3-4 days now, and I have noticed a difference, albeit a small one.
One thing I haven’t been doing is using the nasal spray with castor and tea tree oil. I haven’t been able to find those yet, but when I do, I’ll definitely start doing that too.
One thing that I found particularly interesting though, was that many people in the comments have used Austin’s method and found great success and improvement in their conditions. If you scroll through the comments, you’ll find there are so many positive ones!
A few things I plan on doing:
I came across TCM late last year when I was searching for a natural way to help my mum with her joint pain. Her physician had prescribed pain relief tablets and had suggested cortisone injections as a next resort to help with the pain.
And this basically led to us visiting a TCM doctor, getting started with acupuncture sessions, and seeing absolutely incredible results in only a couple sessions! We were all a bit flabbergasted if I’m honest!
I started with acupuncture treatment a few weeks ago, and the results have been positive. I definitely am able to breather easier after the treatment, but 2-3 days after, the stuffiness returns back.
Which makes me think, is there something I might be overlooking? Maybe certain foods and drink trigger the polyps to flare up? This might need to be looked at some more….
I’ll be continuing with weekly acupuncture sessions at least for 1 more month, so if there are any notable changes, I will report back then.
Jala Neti is a program offered by Isha Foundation (a non profit organization based in India). Because I’d already taken a few programs with Isha (such as Inner Engineering, and Hatha Yoga), and absolutely loved them, I figured I’d take Jala Neti!
The course itself was pretty quick, and I learnt it in about 30-40 minutes. A copper pot is used to cleanse the nasal passages. This is what it looks like.
The program itself was pretty good. I learnt how to properly rinse the sinuses, but if I’m honest, I haven’t been doing the practice all that much since I learnt it.
My plan is to follow through with the breathing technique and acupuncture as a first line of attack. If those don’t work, I’ll be trying out the Jala Neti rinse.
The point of this post is to have some engaging discussion which could help us all! These pesky polyps need to go, and what better a time to work this issue out than just before the new year!? Heck you can even have it as a 2022 new years resolution!
Anyways, that’s all from me. Please drop a comment below introducing yourself and how you’ve been dealing with your nasal polyps. I look forward to hearing! Take care and I’ll see you in the comments!
