Requested By Popular Demand!

A lot of you have gotten in touch asking me to review this chair, so here I am! Let me start off by saying that i’m a big fan of Human Touch products; I especially love their ascent lineup and can’t wait to review the SuperNovo!

The Human Touch Sana is a beautifully designed mid level massage chair. It’s not exactly cheap, but I wouldn’t call it expensive either.

A few standout features to mention here: it’s got 9 auto modes, an “SL” roller track, and calf rollers. Is it good value for money? You’re gonna have to keep reading to find out!

5 Important Features Of The Human Touch Sana Massage Chair!

#1 It’s Got An SL-Track Roller System!

Massage chair lingo can be incredibly confusing. Let’s attempt to dumb it down!

When it comes to massage chair rollers, all you need to know is that there are 3 main types: 2D rollers, 3D rollers, and 4D rollers. The “D” stands for dimensional. The Sana in particular comes equipped with 2-Dimensional (2D) rollers.

How Do 2D Rollers Work?
2D rollers are the simplest of all roller systems. They move up and down along the spine’s axis, and from side to side along the lateral parts of the back. The arrows in the image above depict this 2-dimensional movement.

So that takes care of roller technology, but we still need to look at how the rollers move. When we talk of roller track, we look at 2 things: roller shape and distance.

Roller Shape—The rollers on the Sana take on an “SL” shape. The tight “S” shape contour is the first part as the rollers move from neck to lower back. The “L” shape is the overall shape as the rollers move from neck to glutes. “SL” is the most advanced roller shape you can find in a massage chair today.
Roller Distance—Is the distance the rollers can move from the neck all the way down. Unfortunately, Human Touch have not specified what this distance is for the Sana. If I had to make an educated guess, I’d say about 47 to 49 inches, because that’s the typical range for most “SL” track chairs in today’s market.

#2 Able To Accommodate Most Users!

The Human Touch Sana is able to comfortably accommodate a variety of users. Specifically, it can fit users who fall in the 5’0-6’3 ft height range weighing a maximum of 285 lbs. If you exceed these numbers, you may wish to consider other options. However, most folks who’ve tried the Sana massage chair all think it fits pretty comfortably!

Note: In order to get maximum benefit from the Sana, you should adjust the shoulder setting to match your overall height. This can be done on the remote control.

#3 9 Auto Modes To Keep You Occupied!

My favorite thing about the Sana massage chair is that it comes loaded with 9 auto modes to choose from. Auto modes are essentially pre-programmed massage routines that are designed for a specific purpose.

For example, the stretch auto mode is perfect for anyone looking to stretch out the entire body without necessarily getting a massage. The more auto modes a massage chair has, obviously the better! Let’s look at each of the 9 modes in greater detail:

    • Lower Body—Exactly as the name suggests! This routine focuses on massaging the lower body (calves, thighs, feet etc.).
    • Upper Body—Same idea as the lower body routine but this one focuses on the upper body (waist, shoulders, neck, upper/lower back etc.).
    • Energize—A low to mid intensity routine designed to get you up and moving to take on the day! A great routine to do in the mornings!
    • Performance—Just another fancy way of saying the massage is predominantly compression style. That is, the chair’s airbags will be pulsating to give an air compression massage.
    • Tension Relief—If you suffer from stiff neck and shoulder muscles, you’re gonna love this! This mode is specifically designed to stimulate and massage the neck and shoulders!
    • Stretch—This would be your basic full body stretch routine. Expect moderate to high intensities!
    • Full Body—A full body massage routine that considers both the upper/lower segments of the body. It can get pretty intense!
    • Demo—A quick 5 minute demonstration of all the other modes on the Sana.
    • Recovery—This mode is all about that “SL” track we discussed earlier. In this mode the rollers will start massaging at the neck and then eventually make their way down to the glutes and thighs!

#4 Comes With Both Calf & Foot Rollers!

Here’s another thing that had me a little surprised about the Sana! Calf rollers are pretty much a rarity in massage chairs, so to see that the Sana has calf rollers definitely had me pleasantly surprised! I’ve always thought one area massage chair manufacturers could improve on is calf massage, as it’s often neglected. More than happy to see that Human Touch have addressed it in this design!

In addition to the calf rollers, foot rollers located on the bottom of the foot rest are responsible for delivering a kneading style massage to the soles of the feet. In addition to all of this, airbags (also known as Cloud technology) pulsate to provide an overall effective massage experience.

#5 It Only Requires 4” Of Wall Clearance!

As massage chairs become more and more popular, a growing concern is how such massive chairs can effectively fit in a limited area/space. If i’m someone who is constrained for space does that make my options limited? 10 years ago, yes your options would for sure be limited if space was an issue for you!

Fortunately the massage chairs of today are being designed with space saving technology. Space saving technology is a feature that allows users with space constraints to locate and place the chair with minimal wall clearance. When I say minimal wall clearance, I’m talking 4” from back of headrest to wall!

Human Touch Sana Massage Chair: The Good & Bad!

The Good! (AKA Pros)

Color Schemes Are Legit!
In case you didn’t know, there are a total of 3 color schemes to pick from: espresso, gray, and cream. My personal favorite is the espresso shade. It’s still a dark shade, but it has this timeless look to it! If you’re into lighter shades, you may wish to consider the cream!
SL-Track Is The Best You Can Get!
In terms of roller track, there is none better than an “SL” track! “SL” tracking offers the best of both an “S” and “L” track. That is, you get the tight spinal tracking from neck to tailbone, and you also get the overall “L” contour from neck to glutes. No beating that!
Decent Selection Of Auto Modes!
The 9 auto modes are enough to keep one busy for quite some time. Most people who don’t give importance to auto modes quickly realize how boring and repetitive the experience becomes when they’ve owned and used the chair for a couple months. 9 auto modes are plenty!

The Bad! (AKA Cons)

I Don't Agree With The Pricing!
Okay, i’ll be honest the Human Touch Sana is definitely a good chair in terms of functionality and performance. However, I still can’t seem to agree with how much it costs. I’ve always found Human Touch chairs to be slightly more pricier than their equivalent counterparts from brands such as Osaki, Titan and others.

Human Touch Sana Massage Chair: 4 Frequently Asked Questions!

Question #1: Does the chair recline to a zero gravity position?

Yes this is a feature Human Touch have implemented on the Sana. Zero gravity recline can be enabled directly from the remote control. If you’ve never used a massage chair in zero gravity mode, you’re seriously missing out! These days it’s pretty much all I use on my massage chair.

Question #2: What about heat therapy?

In addition to all the features we’ve discussed thus far, the Sana also comes equipped with dual lumbar heating elements. These provide soothing heat to the lower back, all while the rollers are doing their thing!

Question #3: What sort of massage intensity does this chair deliver?

Because the Sana is a 2D chair, that is a chair that comes with 2D rollers, it’s limited in how intense of a massage it can deliver. In terms of roller intensity it usually goes like this: 4D is greater than 3D which is greater than 2D. That being said, you can still expect a moderate to fairly high massage intensity. I wouldn’t call it deep tissue intense per say, but it’s not too far behind!

Question #4: How does the chair ship and what are the shipping dimensions?

The chair ships in one box. The dimensions of this box are 72”L X 30”W X 33”H. It would be wise to account for these dimensions prior to buying. This way you don’t have any issues with bringing the box through your door and into your home/office.

How Does The Human Touch Sana Stack Up Against Other Massage Chairs In The Market?

The Human Touch Sana is a 2D SL-Track massage chair. In order to see how it stacks up, we must compare it against similar 2D SL-Track chairs. I’ve reviewed almost 50 or so chairs over the last year and a bit, and I think it would be interesting to see how the Sana stacks up against Osaki’s Pro Maxim and Ogawa’s Active L. Both of these chairs come with SL-Track’s and both are incredibly popular in the market!

Osaki Pro Maxim
Very much the crème de la crème when it comes to mid-level massage chairs in 2019. Considering it’s only recent release a few years ago, the Pro Maxim has quickly become a popular massage chair choice for most consumers. Given its incredible performance, there’s no surprise to this!
Ogawa Active L
There’s a lot of similarities between the Active L and the Pro Maxim. The Active L is a fantastic chair in its own right. When it comes down to the nitty gritty, my preference has always been towards the Pro Maxim however. That’s not to say the Active L isn’t a good chair. Both are fantastic options!

So Which One Should You Buy?

All things considered, my final recommendation is to go with Osaki’s Pro Maxim. In terms of price, it’s the cheaper option; and in terms of functionality, it offers more than the other 2 chairs. Last but not least, the Pro Maxim has a plethora of honest reviews & testimonial to back it up. You can find these all over the web pretty much!

Final Recommendation: If you’re looking for an SL-Track chair, go with the Pro Maxim!
