A lot of you have gotten in touch asking me to review this chair, so here I am! Let me start off by saying that i’m a big fan of Human Touch products; I especially love their ascent lineup and can’t wait to review the SuperNovo!
A few standout features to mention here: it’s got 9 auto modes, an “SL” roller track, and calf rollers. Is it good value for money? You’re gonna have to keep reading to find out!
Massage chair lingo can be incredibly confusing. Let’s attempt to dumb it down!
When it comes to massage chair rollers, all you need to know is that there are 3 main types: 2D rollers, 3D rollers, and 4D rollers. The “D” stands for dimensional. The Sana in particular comes equipped with 2-Dimensional (2D) rollers.
So that takes care of roller technology, but we still need to look at how the rollers move. When we talk of roller track, we look at 2 things: roller shape and distance.
The Human Touch Sana is able to comfortably accommodate a variety of users. Specifically, it can fit users who fall in the 5’0-6’3 ft height range weighing a maximum of 285 lbs. If you exceed these numbers, you may wish to consider other options. However, most folks who’ve tried the Sana massage chair all think it fits pretty comfortably!
Note: In order to get maximum benefit from the Sana, you should adjust the shoulder setting to match your overall height. This can be done on the remote control.
My favorite thing about the Sana massage chair is that it comes loaded with 9 auto modes to choose from. Auto modes are essentially pre-programmed massage routines that are designed for a specific purpose.
For example, the stretch auto mode is perfect for anyone looking to stretch out the entire body without necessarily getting a massage. The more auto modes a massage chair has, obviously the better! Let’s look at each of the 9 modes in greater detail:
Here’s another thing that had me a little surprised about the Sana! Calf rollers are pretty much a rarity in massage chairs, so to see that the Sana has calf rollers definitely had me pleasantly surprised! I’ve always thought one area massage chair manufacturers could improve on is calf massage, as it’s often neglected. More than happy to see that Human Touch have addressed it in this design!
In addition to the calf rollers, foot rollers located on the bottom of the foot rest are responsible for delivering a kneading style massage to the soles of the feet. In addition to all of this, airbags (also known as Cloud technology) pulsate to provide an overall effective massage experience.
As massage chairs become more and more popular, a growing concern is how such massive chairs can effectively fit in a limited area/space. If i’m someone who is constrained for space does that make my options limited? 10 years ago, yes your options would for sure be limited if space was an issue for you!
Fortunately the massage chairs of today are being designed with space saving technology. Space saving technology is a feature that allows users with space constraints to locate and place the chair with minimal wall clearance. When I say minimal wall clearance, I’m talking 4” from back of headrest to wall!
Yes this is a feature Human Touch have implemented on the Sana. Zero gravity recline can be enabled directly from the remote control. If you’ve never used a massage chair in zero gravity mode, you’re seriously missing out! These days it’s pretty much all I use on my massage chair.
In addition to all the features we’ve discussed thus far, the Sana also comes equipped with dual lumbar heating elements. These provide soothing heat to the lower back, all while the rollers are doing their thing!
Because the Sana is a 2D chair, that is a chair that comes with 2D rollers, it’s limited in how intense of a massage it can deliver. In terms of roller intensity it usually goes like this: 4D is greater than 3D which is greater than 2D. That being said, you can still expect a moderate to fairly high massage intensity. I wouldn’t call it deep tissue intense per say, but it’s not too far behind!
The chair ships in one box. The dimensions of this box are 72”L X 30”W X 33”H. It would be wise to account for these dimensions prior to buying. This way you don’t have any issues with bringing the box through your door and into your home/office.
The Human Touch Sana is a 2D SL-Track massage chair. In order to see how it stacks up, we must compare it against similar 2D SL-Track chairs. I’ve reviewed almost 50 or so chairs over the last year and a bit, and I think it would be interesting to see how the Sana stacks up against Osaki’s Pro Maxim and Ogawa’s Active L. Both of these chairs come with SL-Track’s and both are incredibly popular in the market!
All things considered, my final recommendation is to go with Osaki’s Pro Maxim. In terms of price, it’s the cheaper option; and in terms of functionality, it offers more than the other 2 chairs. Last but not least, the Pro Maxim has a plethora of honest reviews & testimonial to back it up. You can find these all over the web pretty much!
Last but not least, if you have any specific questions about ANY massage chair, please do not hesitate to drop a comment below. I will respond shortly.
