Currently retailing for $2,999 on massage chair deals, the Meridian is one of the newest additions (2019 release) to Infinity’s already impressive lineup!
Fresh off the shelf, but what else is exciting and new about this chair!? Here’s a few highlights:
When rummaging through the specs, one thing I immediately noticed was how accommodating the Meridian is when it comes to user weight.
Impressive to say the least. One thing that’s maybe not as impressive is its suggested user height of 5’0-6’2 ft. That being said, if you’re 6 ft and over, i’d probably steer away and look at other options.
First things first, what are 2D rollers and how do they function?
The most basic and oldest of roller technologies. 2D rollers are designed to move in 2 dimensions, up/down along the vertical, and side to side along the width of the back. They’re simple, cost effective, and give a pretty decent massage! That being said, 2D rollers do have their drawbacks. One is that they’re limited in how intense of a massage they can produce.
As mentioned earlier, the rollers on the Meridian can traverse a total of 49” from neck to the hamstrings. In massage chair lingo, this is commonly referred to as “extended roller track” or “L-Track” for short.
I certainly think so! For me, it’s not enough to have roller coverage just on the neck and back, it’s just as necessary on the glutes and hamstrings. But that’s just my opinion on the matter!
Let me start of by saying I have never seen an air ionizer on a massage chair! As absurd as it sounds, it’s actually a pretty darn good idea!
Deep breathing specifically promotes blood flow, reduces stress and tension, and induces physical relaxation (Source: EastWestCollege). The built-in air ionizer is basically designed to help with this. Vents located on either side of the headrest blow purified air so that the user is able to easily breathe during a massage session.
According to Wikipedia, an air ionizer is a device that uses high voltage to electrically charge air molecules (Source: Wikipedia). In this chair, the air ionizer negatively charges/ionizes the air molecules.
That’s all nice and dandy, but….certain types of air ionizers can actually cause more harm than good. A good air ionizer improves the air quality and may even help relieve certain allergic symptoms. However, there are some air ionizers that can aggravate and worsen allergic conditions! These ionizers generate ozone which can actually be detrimental to your health. If you want to know more about this, here’s an interesting article!
I have reached out to Infinity to confirm, and I’ll update this post when I have an answer. Till then, I don’t have an answer for you unfortunately.
The Infinity Meridian comes loaded with a total of 6 auto massage routines. These are:
Each of these auto modes can be enabled directly from the remote control.
This is really useful! I speak from experience when I say there have been countless number of times when I’ve messed around with manual settings to find the PERFECT massage, only to forget what the heck all those settings were! What’s nice about the Meridian is that you have the ability to save your massage directly after the session is over, so if it’s good you save it, otherwise don’t bother!
Space saving recline is a feature that’s gaining tremendous popularity in the massage chair industry. It becomes especially important for those who live in areas with tight space constraints.
Simply said, it’s a design enhancement whereby the chair slides forward on its base whenever reclined. Having this sort of capability allows you to get away with placing the chair only a few inches away from the wall.
Some of you may appreciate this feature, while it won’t matter for others who have tons of space. For the latter, I ask you to think long term! That is, do you anticipate relocating the chair in the near future to some other area in your house/apartment etc.? Important to think this all through now!
Below are 4 noteworthy features also present in the Infinity Meridian massage chair.
This is more about convenience than functionality. The Meridian comes equipped with a small side panel located on the right armrest. This side panel allows a user to:
There’s also a USB port integrated into the side panel. This is useful for charging your smartphone or any other device.
The Infinity Meridian is equipped with Bluetooth compatible speakers. It’s a dual speaker system, and each speaker is located on either side of the headrest. All you gotta do is pair up your smartphone and you’re good to go!
Zero gravity is a recline position where your legs are slightly elevated relative to your heart, and where the legs form an angle of roughly 128 degrees with the torso. Simply said, it’s a position in which the spine experiences the least stress and strain. Blood flow and lung capacity are also enhanced.
Massaging at zero gravity is not just about being reclined in an almost horizontal position, it’s about getting the rollers and airbags to do their job as effectively as they can. If your body is in a complete state of ease, it’s that much more easier to massage!
Located on the bottom of the footrest (on either side) are foot rollers. These are responsible for providing a massage to the bottom of the feet, all the way from the heel right up to the toes. Foot roller speed can be adjusted to 3 levels: slow, medium, and fast. A higher speed equates to stronger intensity. Conversely, a lower speed corresponds to lighter intensity.
Moment of truth! How does the Meridian stack up against similar chairs on the market? We’ll be comparing it against 2 chairs in particular:
No surprise that this is one of the best selling massage chairs you can currently find on the market. It’s expertly designed SL-Track, combined with the staggering 12 auto modes make the Pro Maxim a fan favorite!
If you’ve been following this blog, you’ll know how much I love the APEX Pro Ultra! It’s my personal favorite as far as budget massage chairs are concerned, and that’s because it offers so much for such a reasonable price tag!
Decisions, decisions, decisions! Is the Infinity Meridian worth $2,999 or is it worth your while to consider another chair?
And all the proof you need is in the comparison table above. By now it should be glaringly clear that both the Pro Ultra and the Pro Maxim are superior to the Meridian. The Pro Ultra is the same price, but offers so much more. For example, you get better user flexibility, state of the art mechanical calf rollers, and a longer 50” track. Why would I personally pick the Pro Ultra over the Meridian?
They make for a much more complete massage experience.
What about the Pro Maxim? While the Pro Maxim is more expensive than the Meridian (by about $299 roughly), it’s worth the extra $$$, and here’s why!
Note: Infinity Meridian is a new chair and so there isn’t much in terms of user reviews/testimonials at this point.
Because I like to be 100% transparent with my audience, I would like to tell you that I am an affiliate of massage chair deals. What does that mean? That means if you choose to buy any of the chairs mentioned in this post using my links, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. That being said, I do have some special affiliate perks that I’m able to offer you!
For a chair that costs $3K, that’s $150 in savings. Not a ton yes, but there’s about a dozen different things I can think of to spend that $150 on!
