Continuing The Theme Of Compact Massage Chairs!

First and foremost, a very happy new year to all of you! I hope that 2022 will be a prosperous year full of joy and great experiences, but most importantly the year when we finally see the end of this pandemic.

That being said, today we will be continuing with the theme by reviewing yet another compact massage chair: the Synca CirC Plus!

Last week we had a detailed review of the Human Touch iJoy Total; all in all, a fantastic compact massage chair which still offers a full body experience. In case you missed it, you can check out the full review here.

When I learnt that Synca were planning on improving the already popular and famous CirC, I couldn’t wait to do a full review! I absolutely loved the original CirC, and I thought it was definitely one of the better compact massage chairs you can find on the market.

One area where I did think it was lacking was its inability to recline. As we’ll see in a moment, this seems to have been rectified for the newer CirC Plus!

If you’re curious to know what the exact differences are between the CirC and the CirC Plus, don’t worry as I plan on devoting a section of this review to address just this! For now, let’s look at a few key features of the CirC Plus!

Synca Wellness CirC Plus: 4 Noteworthy Features!

#1 It Comes Equipped With An Ultra Long 45.5” L-Track!

This might be one of the biggest highlights of the CirC Plus, and rightfully so! A 45.5” L-Track is rather impressive for what you can expect to typically find on a compact massage chair. In fact most compact massage chairs don’t even have an L-Track, let alone one that’s 45.5″!

What is roller track anyways, and specifically what is an L-Track? What significance does it play in the role of massage?

Roller track is basically a metal contraption that facilitates roller movement from one point to another. Without a roller track, the rollers would be static and only able to massage a single part of the body.

In that sense, the roller track is an incredibly important component in any massage chair.

A poorly designed track, or one that doesn’t properly contour to the spine’s curvature, could mean a less effective massage because the rollers aren’t able to effectively reach and target problem areas. Conversely, a well designed track can make for an incredibly effective, and comforting massage experience!

To give you an idea, below image depicts what a typical L-Track looks like.

For your information, there is no difference whatsoever between an L-Track and an SL-Track. Both are exactly one and the same. I’m not sure who decided it would be smart to refer to the same thing with 2 different terms, but I assume it stems from marketing. Anyways, to keep it very simple, both are the same.

#2 It Can Recline!

One of the biggest differences between the CirC and the CirC Plus is that the latter is able to recline. Not only can it recline, it can recline to the zero gravity position!

This is a huge huge improvement and could make the CirC line even more popular than it already is!

A few things to note:

Recline Levels—In addition to the zero gravity position, you can adjust recline levels directly from the remote control.
6”(15 cm) Clearance Required—Something to keep in mind is that 6” (half a foot) of clearance is required so there isn’t a clash.

While I do love the fact that the CirC Plus can recline, I’m not digging the 6” of clearance needed and I’ll tell you why. If I’m looking at a chair such as the CirC, I’m doing so because of its compact/portable nature.

That’s the big appeal with the CirC and CirC Plus, and if you now require 6” of clearance, it kinda dampens that, do you know what I mean?

I guess it’s not too big a deal, but I wanted to mention it since this is after all a comprehensive review.

Side Note: A really cool feature on the new CirC Plus is a movement detection sensor. It’s basically a sensor located in the back of the chair which detects and activates if there is a clash during recline for example. Pretty slick!

#3 Air Compression & 2 Forms of Heat Therapy!

Okay I’m bundling 2 features in 1 here! Here’s what you need to know:

Air Compression
Because there’s no way for the rollers to reach every single part of the body, we have airbags that pulsate with air thereby resulting in a compression style massage. The CirC Plus actually does pretty good in this department. It’s equipped with airbags/air cells to massage the shoulders, hip, hands, calves, and feet.
Heat Therapy
Heat is important because it helps loosen up the muscles, thereby priming them for an effective massage session. The CirC has heating pads on both the lower back/lumbar and calf regions. Again, pretty impressive for a compact chair. Heat can be toggled on/off directly from the remote control. Also great for a chilly day!

#4 Easy To Operate & A Good Selection of Massage Modes To Pick From!

There’s a lot I love about user experience. First and foremost, I’ve gotta give props to Synca for making the remote control wireless!

This is actually pretty sweet, and much better than having a wired controller that becomes a pain to remove and place in the pouch during mid-massage.

The wireless remote is not too large either, which makes it great for storage. I love how everything is so well laid out, and I think that makes the CirC Plus one of the easiest chairs to operate.

Coming to the massage modes….

There’s a few different ways to operate the chair:

Select A Pre-Programmed Course—These are essentially auto modes designed and choreographed for a specific purpose. You can pick from 3 modes: energize (deep tissue), relax (intermediate), and sleep (mild).
Select A Focused Relief Course—If one of the 3 auto modes don’t cut if for you, you can pick from any of the 5 focused modes: neck & shoulder, waist, sciatic and buttocks, back stretch, and zero gravity cycle.
Drive In Manual Mode—There’s always the option of driving the chair in manual mode. You retain the flexibility to vary intensities, toggling on/off heat and air, and being able to select from different techniques.

As you can see, the chair offers a decent amount of experience and is not simply restricted to a handful of auto routines. This is a definite pro as far as I’m concerned.

Synca Wellness CirC Plus Massage Chair Pros & Cons!

Pros—The Stuff I Like!
Cons—The Stuff I Don’t Like!
    • Ultra Long L-Track Makes A World of Difference!—It’s one thing to see an L-Track on the larger “conventional” massage chair, but on a compact massage chair!? Pretty impressive I’ll say!
    • Many Improvements But Retains It’s Compact Nature!—As we’ll see in a bit the CirC Plus has quite a few new additions /improvements from the older CirC, this there’s no question about. What’s impressive is that it’s still very much a compact/portable massage chair!
    • Good Selection of Massage Modes!—Really cool to see some very interesting massage modes! As mentioned earlier, there are 2 types of routines one can select: your regular pre-programmed modes which work different parts of the body, or a more focused routine to deal with specific pain points.
    • Easy To Use!—I think this is a combination of both the remote control being super easy to figure out, as everything is nicely laid out, and of course the remote control being wireless. Well done to Synca for working out small details like this. Always remember, the small details make a world of difference in the end!
    • Ummm….Not Really Space Saving—The one thing that irks me just a tad is that the CirC Plus is advertised to have space saving recline. With half a foot of clearance being needed, I don’t consider this to be space saving in the true sense. Half of that or less is acceptable in my opinion. Maybe I’m overly picky, but this is based on reviewing a plethora of chairs, so there is some basis.

How Does The Synca CirC Compare To The CirC Plus?

There’s a few distinctions to talk about, but I’ll only be focusing on the main differences that are likely to influence your buying decision. Right, let’s get started!

  • 5’0 – 6’3 ft & 264 lbs.

    Remote Control

#1 One Reclines, The Other Doesn’t!

The CirC Plus reclines, while the CirC does not have this ability.

Is it important to opt for a massage chair that can recline? Or is recline overrated?

Well I can tell you it’s most definitely something I would look for. For me it’s an absolute must, and that’s because recline gives you the option to massage in zero gravity.

And why is this so important, you ask?

It’s because zero gravity is the one position where the human body experiences the least amount of stress and strain on the spine. Blood circulation is at its optimum and the body is in a very receptive state to receive massage.

#2 Difference In Roller Track Length!

Another major difference between both chairs is the L-Track. The newer CirC Plus has a 45.5” L-Track, as you already know. It’s older brother, the original CirC, only has a 34” L-Track.

Is this a major difference and worth spending the extra $$$ for?

In my opinion, absolutely yes! We’re talking almost a foot in extra length, which when you think about it, is quite a bit of extra coverage you’d be getting with the newer model.

#3 Massage Routines—It’s All About The Numbers!

Yet another improvement in the newer CirC Plus is it comes with a good variety for massage modes. There’s 8 modes you can pick from (some are focused, others are all encompassing), whereas you only have 5 to play around with on the older CirC.

Although the CirC still gives you the option to focus in on body area from upper, lower or full.

#4 Wired Vs. Wireless—What Do You Prefer?

CirC has a wired remote control; CirC Plus has a wireless remote control.

What do you prefer? I prefer wireless all day every day!

Although some folks do tend to like wired because they don’t need to change batteries, and they probably feel it is likely to get lost or misplaced. Let me know in the comments what you prefer!

#5 Price—Last But Most Definitely Not Least!

Of course we can’t forget about pricing – which is probably the most important consideration for all of us, right!?

The CirC is significantly cheaper than the CirC Plus!

CirC currently retails for $999 and CirC Plus for $1,899 (pricing at the time of writing from Wish Rock Relaxation). You could say the CirC Plus cost almost twice the price of the CirC. Is it worth paying the extra $$$? More on this below!

Should You Buy The Synca CirC Or CirC Plus Massage Chair?

It’s a tough one to answer, if I’m honest. You’re definitely getting a superior chair – one with a significantly longer roller track, better user experience, easier operation, and the big one – recline capabilities.

Do you think all of these warrant the extra money that the CirC Plus costs?

It’s subjective, but I personally think it’s just on the borderline of what I would consider expensive. Yes it is better than the older CirC, but does that make it an affordable compact massage chair? Because after-all, the CirC Plus is still very much a compact massage chair! My final recommendation is:

If you’re hell bent on getting a compact massage chair, then definitely the CirC Plus is something you should consider. Also the CirC to be honest as well, since it still is pretty good and very reasonable!

However, if you’re not so much looking for compact, then you do have many options to choose from when it comes to 2D L-Track chairs. They might end up costing a bit more, but they will also have better functionality as far as massage is concerned.

All that being said, both the CirC and CirC Plus are fantastic chairs, and either one will serve you well. As such, I recommend both options!
