I Wasn’t Planning On Reviewing This Chair Initially….

Welcome back to yet another review post! This time it’s Daiwa’s Hubble we’ll be focusing on. We’ll look at what makes the Hubble a popular 3D chair in today’s market filled with tons of options, and we’ll also look at the pros and cons, as well as a final recommendation to get you on your way.

I wasn’t initially planning on reviewing the Hubble because to be very honest with you, $10,500 is not something I see myself ever spending on a 3D chair.

For this kinda price I’m better off getting the OHCO M.8, which in my opinion is a far better chair than the Hubble. It’s got 4D rollers and a ton of other awesome features. Anyways, let me not digress because otherwise I could spend the rest of this post telling you how awesome the M.8 is and that’s not the purpose today.

I decided to review the Hubble because of the massive price drop I saw on Prime Massage Chairs today. This thing is currently selling for $3,995!

Does that mean you should buy one? You’ll have to keep reading to find out!

Should You Buy The Daiwa Hubble
Should You Buy The Daiwa Hubble?

Before we dive into the features, let’s sidetrack for a moment and talk a little bit about Daiwa. Who are Daiwa and what’s their USP? Contrary to what most of you may think, Daiwa is very much an American company. Here’s a few points to take note of:

They Design In California, Manufacture In China—Daiwa is located in multiple states in the US but they do their designs out of California. These are then sent to the manufacturer plant in China where the chairs are made and assembled. Pretty standard stuff here.
Daiwa Massage Chairs Are Generally Considered “Luxury Items”—Compared to other massage chairs on the market, most of Daiwa’s product lineup bear expensive price tags. Is it bang for your buck? Probably not, but they have some interesting chairs nonetheless!
They Also Do Vending Massage Chairs!—Which is pretty cool because it’s not something you see a lot with personal massage chair manufacturers. Daiwa currently has 3 vending massage chairs in its lineup: legacy vending, airtouch vending, and aerovend.

However, Daiwa still have some reasonably priced chairs. For your knowledge, their collection of massage chairs have been categorised into 3 series: standard series, premium series, and luxury series. Guess which one costs the most $$$!?

Daiwa Hubble Massage Chair: 5 Key Features To Know Of!

#1 Probably The Best Chair On The Market From A Placement Standpoint!

Massage chair placement is one of those things that’s either a game-changer or a moot point, depending on your personal situation.

If you have tons of space in your home (or office) then placing and installing a massage chair is really not much of an issue. You won’t have to worry much about clearance.
On the flip-side if you live in a small living space, that’s when placement becomes a little tricky because now you have to consider enough space for when the chair reclines.

What’s really nice about the Hubble is that it requires no clearance at all from backrest to wall! This is a game-changer because every other chair I’ve reviewed requires some amount of clearance!

Daiwa Hubble Wall Hugger

It’s rather unfortunate that ease of placement is being given so much attention when talking massage chairs. In many ways, I feel that other manufacturers should be on the same wavelength as Daiwa so that more consumers can enjoy owning a massage chair without having to stress about clearances and placement.

#2 Revolutionary Thermal Knee Massage That Helps Relieve Inflammation!

Is this really revolutionary or am I exaggerating? Okay to be honest maybe it’s not revolutionary, but it is something that 95% of massage chairs don’t have. In that sense it’s a game-changer!

Knee massage, just like calf massage is an area which is most often neglected by massage chair manufacturers. A lot of emphasis is given on upper body, but everyone seems to conveniently forget the lower half!

Which is exactly why these kinds of features get me really pumped! The Hubble has what they call thermal knee massage. Basically, it’s a heated massage that utilises pulsating airbags to stretch tendons and relieve painful inflammation.

Daiwa Hubble Knee Massage

I do understand that many of us may not always need a knee massage as badly we do as back/neck/shoulder massage, but I think this is still a great feature to have because it could be super useful in the event you do need to use it!

#3 9 Auto Modes Ensures Massage Stays Fresh & Exciting Every Single Time!

The marketing info tells you there’s 27 auto modes, but I’m telling you there’s 9. Who should you believe? Who’s right and who’s wrong? The way it’s been marketed is that there are 27 auto modes when you take the 9 and consider the 3 different time settings (10, 20 and 30 minutes).

I don’t think they should call it 27 auto modes; 9 auto modes is what it really is!

I think it could be very misleading to say 27 auto modes just because you have the ability to vary time from 3 different durations. Anyways, you can make of it as you will, but I am a little disappointed in the misleading information. I’m neither pleased nor disappointed with the number of auto modes, I think 9 is probably acceptable for what the Hubble is currently selling for.

What are the 9 auto modes?

#4 Bonus Chair & Foot Pads Become Really Handy!

One thing I really dislike about my massage chair is its lack of versatility. When I say lack of versatility, I mean it cannot be used as anything other than a massage chair.

I would really like to see manufacturers developing designs which consist of a massage chair/recliner chair hybrid!

In a very small way, that’s kinda what the Hubble is. Included with the chair, they provide you with 3/4” bonus chair and foot pads that can be placed on the chair if you wanted to use it as a comfortable recliner.

The reason why 99% of massage chairs can’t also be used as recliners is because the padding is too thin and when you sit on the chair you can feel the rollers dig into your back, as well as the empty spaces left by the deflated airbags. If you’ve ever sat on a massage chair that’s not powered on, you’ll know exactly what I mean!

Daiwa Hubble Also A Recliner

Pretty cool that these additional pads allow you to enjoy the Hubble as a normal recliner when not using the massage functionalities!

#5 High Quality Leather Upholstery!

Here’s another item that doesn’t necessarily impact massage functionality, but it’s still a very important consideration nonetheless.

Before we delve any further, 99% of massage chairs all have synthetic leather upholstery. It’s very rare you’ll find a chair with genuine leather, or something else.

The Hubble distinguishes itself from the pack by making use of Saffiano leather. What is Saffiano anyways? To be honest I didn’t know much about it, so I went and did some research. Turns out that Saffiano is full grain, textured leather that is finished with a wax treatment.

Its standout qualities include scratch resistance, durability, and it’s also incredibly easy to clean and maintain. (Source: Aspinal of London)

From my own personal experience just with sofa sets, I’ve seen how big of a difference full grain genuine leather makes versus the cheap synthetic stuff. There’s actually no comparison to be quite honest!

Daiwa Hubble Massage Chair Pros & Cons!

Pros—The Stuff I Like!
Cons—The Stuff I Don’t Like!
    • Outstanding User Flexibility!—One thing I did not talk about earlier is the user flexibility of the Hubble. In terms of height, the Hubble can accommodate anywhere between 4’8” to 6’6”. That’s almost 2 feet in variability! Maximum weight is equally impressive at 300 lbs! Also worth noting is the chair’s ability to adjust the shoulder pads according to one’s body type. Not many chairs have this capability!
    • Exceptional Air Massage!—And that’s not so much to do with the sheer number of airbags (48!), but more so the thought behind placing them in the right areas. For example, the knees and being able to effectively massage the various tendons around the knees!
    • Leather Upholstery & The Additional Padding!—We talked about both of these things previously, but both need to mentioned here again since they truly set the Hubble apart from other chairs!
    • Zero Clearance From Backrest To Wall!—You need zero inches of clearance from backrest to wall. Another revolutionary feature that I’ve yet to see on any other massage chair!
    • Regular Pricing Is Just Ridiculous!—I was debating whether I should mention this or leave it out. The Hubble is currently priced at $3,995 on Prime Massage Chairs. We’ll talk about this pricing a little more when we do our comparisons, but my concern is more so about the regular pricing of this chair ($10K+!). In no way is this chair worth $10K, and this is my honest opinion!

What About Assembly & Installation?

This has gotta be my least favourite thing about massage chairs, the dreaded assembly and install! Arghhh!

Like most other massage chairs, the Hubble take a little bit of time to properly assemble and set-up. The instruction manual covers all of these details, but you should expect to take at least an hour (maybe more!?) for the complete set-up.

Daiwa Hubble Installation

If you want to get a high level appreciation of what all is involved, check out this video from Life with LABBROS!

As you can see it’s pretty labour intensive, but keep in mind the folks in the video are installing more than one Hubble! Just from looking at the video, you can expect some lifting and moving, and then installing the foot assembly. All in all shouldn’t be too bad, but if you wanted to not do any of this, you can pay extra for white glove delivery and setup and a tech will do the assembly and setup for you.

What About Operation?

As you would expect with most massage chairs, the Hubble is fairly simple to operate. The remote control is well laid out, easy to read, and self explanatory. The instruction manual goes through the details, but if you’re not one to look at manuals much, you may wanna instead check out the video below from Prime Massage Chairs!

Daiwa Hubble: 3 Frequently Asked Questions!

Q1: What Are The Warranty Options For the Hubble?

There is one component that’s standard across the board, and the other component may vary depending on which retailer/distributor you buy from. Given that I am an affiliate of Prime Massage Chairs, the warranty options specific to this retailer are:

Daiwa Hubble Warranty Options

And yes if you choose to buy the chair using any of the links in my post, I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. I mention this because I want to be 100% transparent with my audience, irrespective of whether you buy using the links shared or otherwise.

Q2: Can I Get An Additional Discount On The Hubble?

If you buy using the links shared on this post, you can try entering the code “MNMPMC5” during checkout. If it works, you may be able to score an extra 5% off the listed price!

I’m not so sure if it will work in this instance as the chair is already discounted and on sale. Anyways, doesn’t hurt to try right!?

Q3: How Reputable Are Daiwa & How Do Their Chairs Compare To Others?

We’ll look at this in a lot more detail in the next section, but for now I can share the following:

When you look at a Daiwa chair, one of the first thing that stands out before anything is quality upholstery. Of course, most times this comes with an expensive price tag as well!

Because they don’t have as many chairs as say Osaki for example, Daiwa are not as well known in the massage chair world. Of course if you’re a massage chair enthusiast, you definitely know who they are! Are Daiwa chairs known to be well reputed? Yes I do believe they are. You can expect a quality product, it’s just that you can also expect to pay top dollar for that also!

Finally, Should You Buy The Daiwa Hubble Or Consider Something Else?

Because the Hubble is a 3D L-Track, it is only fair to compare the chair against a similar 3D L-Track chair. I’m gonna compare the Hubble against the Osaki Pro First Class which is in its own right a contender for best 3D massage chair currently on the market!

  • Osaki OS Pro First Class

It’s about as tight as you can get, isn’t it!?

Very difficult to decide which is the better chair! The First Class is better in terms of overall user experience as it boasts 23 auto modes, but the Hubble is much more comfortable with the Saffiano leather upholstery. The Hubble has an awesome knee massage, but the First Class has calf rollers.

So what should you pick?

If the Hubble stays at its current sale price of $3,995, I think it’s definitely worth considering! Both the First Class and the Hubble are awesome chairs in their own right!
