Aside From Being Stunningly Beautiful, What Does The D.Core Cloud Offer?

Talking purely aesthetics, the D.Core line of massage chairs is probably one of the better looking units you can find on the market today. You can tell that it’s a well thought out design that’s taken a long time to conceive. Everything from the wooden trim right down to the vibrant upholstery colour schemes oozes with class! Don’t believe me, take a look!

However, it’s important to remember why you’re buying a massage chair to begin with! Are you buying a showpiece that’s only nice to look at, or do you want a high performing machine capable of working those kinks in your lower back?

If you’re interested in just having a piece of eye candy, you’re better off investing in a sofa or a recline chair to be completely honest. Because you need not spend $6-7K on a massage chair for this. If massage is your primary concern, then and only then should you look at investing in a massage chair.

Coming to D.Core, who are these guys anyways? They are a Japanese company with only 3 massage chairs in their lineup: the Cloud, the Cirrus, and the Stratus.

Does this suggest a lack of experience? No, actually the opposite. D.Core was conceived from the same folks who make Inada massage chairs. And we all know just how famous Inada are in the massage chair industry! In fact, D.Core is owned by the son of Mr. Inada, that’s a bit of a fun fact for you.

D.Core have chosen to focus on 2 chairs because they wanted to perfect them, and when we look through the subtle details in a moment, you’ll see exactly what I mean. Yes there are a few things I don’t like about the Cloud, for example the pricing right off the bat is a tad much for my liking (more on this later!), but for now let’s look at what this chair is capable of!

4 Noteworthy Features On The D.Core Cloud Massage Chair!

#1 The Rollers Are Totally Unique!

The small details make a world of difference. These is so much truth to this statement, and it very much applies in this instance!

D.Core have equipped the Cloud with a patented system of rollers known as True Shiatsu Action. What’s unique about these rollers is they look and feel totally different from the traditional “donut” looking discs we’re all so used to seeing!

To give you some perspective, below are conventional quad rollers. You’ll notice the donut shaped discs, this is the contraption that moves along your back and provides rolling, kneading, and tapping massage techniques.

Here’s What Your Conventional Rollers Typically Look Like!

Now, here’s the type of rollers you can find on D.Core chairs. While it is still a disc shape, it no longer looks like a donut but instead has wavy notches on the outer surface. This simple design enhancement is huge, and don’t take it for granted!

It’s because of these “wavy notches” that D.Core chairs can typically massage at much higher intensities than other chairs with similar or even superior specifications. Because of the indents, the rollers are able to dig deeper into the body and really work fascia and tension which otherwise would not be possible.

For me the rollers on D.Core chairs are the number #1 reason I would consider buying one of these chairs. Yes there are other features, but this one thing alone is a game changer.

Aside from the True Shiatsu Action mechanism, the Cloud’s rollers can be classified as 3D (3-dimensional) with a 35.4” roller track. D.Core refer to the 35.4” as an L-Track, but this is something I disagree with. L-Track’s are not 35.4”, they’re typically 48-52” long! Not sure if this is false marketing….

3D Rollers For Dummies

3D stands for 3-dimensional. There are 3 different motions you can expect on a 3D chair: up/down along the vertical, side to side along the horizontal, and in/out protrusion. The image below describes this best.

Not The Best Picture, But You Get The Point!

#2 The Way It Looks & Feels!

I touched on this earlier, but the D.Core Cloud is very much what I like to call a statement massage chair. It’s one of those items that’ll always stand out when placed in a room with other furniture. I think both the black and cream colours blend seamlessly with the walnut trim.

Tell me this isn’t one of the best looking massage chairs you’ve ever seen!

DCore Cloud Listed Features

Even though the upholstery is made of synthetic leather, the chair is incredibly comfortable such that the body naturally sinks in!

#3 Comes Loaded With 9 Auto Modes

Which is definitely good, but not super duper impressive. I think this is an area where D.Core could’ve improved on by having more auto modes. However, I can’t fault them too much because the 9 pre-programmed routines are incredibly well choreographed!

In case you’re wondering, the 9 auto modes are: restore, circulation, morning, night, recovery, quick, neck and shoulders, lower back, and air focus.

While it does lack in sheer number of auto modes, it does kinda make up for this by having the ability to save up to 6 manual customised massage routines to the chair’s memory.

#4 Patented Wave Array Massage Works Wonderfully!

Another feature that distinguishes the D.Core Cloud from other massage chairs is something known as wave array massage, basically another patented technology by D.Core. What is this anyways?

Every massage chair manufacturer on the market dreams of one thing: being able to as close mimic a real massage without losing the most important aspects!

If you look at all the top brands, this is the one thing they continuously strive for. Will it one day happen that a massage chair will be as good as the “human touch”? I don’t think we will ever see this, but we’re definitely not far behind with the current generation of massage chairs, this there’s no question!

Patented wave array then is simply the way D.Core have choreographed and synchronised the rollers on the Cloud to be able to perform as closely as possible to the real thing!

DCore Cloud Wave Array

They’ve done this by actual taking the time to consult with renowned massage therapists such as Dr. Takehiro Izawa. I think this is truly where D.Core and even brands such as OHCO stand out from the rest. Yes these guys produce chairs that carry exorbitant price tags, but you know that what you’re getting is a truly high performing unit.

It’s the small details that make all the difference in the end, and consulting with in-the-field massage specialists is one such small detail which makes a world of difference!

D.Core Cloud Massage Chair Pros & Cons!

Pros—The Stuff I Like!
Cons—The Stuff I Don’t Like!
    • True Shiatsu Action Rollers!—If there’s a standout feature on the Cloud, it’s this! There’s no comparison between these rollers and the other “donut” style you can find on every other massage chair.
    • Wave Array Technology Takes It One Step Further!—It’s one thing to have good rollers and a well designed massage chair, it’s another thing altogether to have a well synchronised product with rollers programmed for relaxation and invigoration!
    • And Of Course The Way It Looks!—A statement piece that’ll forever standout in your living room. If looks could kill!
    • Not Really An SL-Track!—35.4” is not what I consider an SL/L-Track. This is more an S-Track length, so I think what’s advertised is a little misleading. That being said when you’re spending approximately $7K, you’d expect to have a chair with an L-Track!

Is The D.Core Cloud Massage Chair Worth The $$$, Or Should You Buy Something Else?

The big question you’ve all been waiting for: is the D.Core Cloud worth spending approximately $7K on, or should you look at something else? There are several other 3D chairs on the market for much cheaper than the D.Core Cloud, for example the Osaki Pro First Class and the Osaki Pro Admiral. Let’s see how these 2 compare specifically.

  • Osaki OS Pro First Class

    Calf Rollers

In my opinion, it’s these sorts of decisions that are the toughest to make. Both the First Class and Admiral are significantly cheaper, have longer roller tracks (actual L-Tracks!), more auto modes, and in general more features than the D.Core Cloud. But and there’s a big but…..the Cloud’s rollers are just too phenomenal to ignore! The same with Wave Array technology.

So how do you begin to decide what to get?

I’ll say this much: if you can afford to spend $7K on a chair like the D.Core Cloud, then you probably should go for it! All things considered, it’s a phenomenal product and does exactly what it advertises!
If $7K is a bit too much and exceeds your budget, then the Pro First Class and Pro Admiral are 2 of the very best 3D massage chairs you can presently find on the market. They will not disappoint!

D.Core Cloud Massage Chair: 3 Frequently Asked Questions!

Question #1: What kind of users can this chair accommodate?

In terms of user flexibility, the D.Core Cloud actually does pretty well. It can accommodate a height range of 5’0-6’4 ft., and a maximum weight of 265 lbs. I have seen other massage chair which do better at accommodating overall weight, but the height range on the Cloud can’t be faulted!

Question #2: Is the D.Core Cloud able to massage at deep tissue intensities?

Yes, and in fact one of the trademark characteristics of all D.Core chairs is that they can perform at really deep tissue intensities. This is made possible by the patented True Shiatsu Action roller system.

Here’s a fun fact: did you know that D.Core actually stands for Deep Core!?

So yes the Cloud can do deep tissue massage!

Question #3: What about placement? How easy is it to fit the Cloud in my home?

Another feature on the D.Core Cloud is something called space hugging or space saving technology. It may sound complex but it’s actually pretty simple: all it means is that the chair is able to slide forward on a base as it reclines backward.

This forward sliding motion essentially means less clearance is required from backrest to the nearest wall. For the Cloud, the required clearance is 5”.

Knowing you only need about half a foot of clearance from the back of the chair is pretty good when looking at placement. However, that doesn’t takeaway considerations from the side or front of the chair, as these also need to be looked at.

Question #4: Where is the Cloud manufactured? Is it made in Japan?

It’s actually made in China. I know this might disappoint some of you, but it’s definitely not something to get too caught up on if you ask me.

Yes it’s true that there are some truly extraordinary Japanese massage chairs, but the same can be said about some of the Chinese ones!

Are Japanese chairs more superior than their Chinese counterparts? Even if they are, it’s only marginal at this point. Chinese factories have come a long way over the years, and what used to be a massive gap in quality and workmanship isn’t that anymore.

Leave Your Questions Down Below!

That brings us to the end of this review post. I hope you enjoyed the review and can now have a greater appreciation of the D.Core Cloud massage chair, even though it’s hard to do so when seeing such an exorbitant price tag!

There’s a lot I love about the Cloud, but the one thing I dislike is probably one of the main deciding factors (price!), so it does make it very difficult to provide a solid recommendation to you guys!

Anyways, I do hope that this post has armed with you enough information to make an informed buying decision. Whatever you decide to choose, I hope it performs exactly as you desired it to! Cheers, be safe and be well!
